Tengami coming to iOS on February 20th, 2014

At last Tengami week has come!!!

After more than 3 years of development we are very excited to announce that Tengami is finally hitting the AppStore this Thursday, February 20th. It will be released as a universal app and go on sale for $4.99, £2.99, €4.49, ¥500. Supported iDevices at launch are iPhone 4 and newer / iPad 2 and newer / iPod 5th generation. iOS7 is required.

We are supporting the following 14 languages at launch: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian, Danish, Swedish and Turkish.

We opted to go with the red gate as our app icon, as that got the most votes. We tweaked it a little further to work well when seen at a small scale.

If you have got any questions about the game pre-launch let us know in the comments. Happy Tengami Week! 🙂

  1. I preordered the game for PC and it cost me 10$. Why the iOS price is the half??

This is the benefit of preorder, Pay double? The game is the same in the two platforms, rigth…

  2. Hi Javier,

thanks for letting me know about your concerns regarding the price difference on iOS and PC. There are a few reasons for this difference.

First of all the pre-order gets you 2 DRM copies of the game, one for Windows and one for Mac OS. If the game gets released on Steam, and we will do everything in our power to make that happen, you will get a Steam key as well. So if all goes according to plan, you will get 3 copies of the game for $10.

Secondly making the Windows and OS X versions is more involved than iOS. The reason is that computers come with many different hardware configurations, which means extra testing and development time to ensure we support as many of these configurations as possible.

Another point is the difference of value of games on the iOS marketplace compared to console and PC. In my opinion games on mobile are under-priced. Tengami with a $10 price point would have no chance in the mobile market, even though it is a fair price for what the game is.

I understand that the price difference might be upsetting at first glance. If you would like a refund just email me at jennifer@nyamyam.com

  3. I accept that the cost of delivery in PC/Mac can be upper. But you presume that the players prefer pay more to have copies for PC and Mac, I prefer pay less and take the copy only for my system.

The game interests me and I will not ask for the money back, but I don’t like to have the feeling of pay more because the price range on mobile platforms is less. Literally PC/Mac players are funding iOS players

    1. We haven’t tried putting it on Steam yet, because completing the game took all our time and efforts. A Steam Greenlight Campaign requires quite a bit of work and attention. Thanks for the offer Esteban! I might come back to it.

    1. Yes, iOS first. I think May/June is the likeliest time frame, unless it the porting and testing goes surprisingly fast. I will post an update about PC/Mac a few weeks after iOS launch.

    1. Hi Kees,

I sent you an email reply, but just in case you didn’t get it I’m posting the reply here too:

We tried to create a game that is of a very high quality and that is unique in the way that it plays. In order to maintain the quality level it was not possible to also have lots of content.

We’re only a small team of 3 people and it took us 3 years to make the game. Because of all these reasons we feel that the game is worth the asking price. But I do understand your feeling and we do wish that we could have made it slightly longer. We hope to add more new content later this year.
